Does my home insurance cover damage caused by earthquake or flood?

NO.  A standard homeowner policy does NOT generally cover damage caused by earthquake and floods.  These sources of damage require additional coverage or a separate policy.  Insurance companies may write some earthquake, provided home is built 1960 or newer, while not writing the older homes.   Sewer Bank Up coverage can be added for additional cost to many home policies; however, sewer back up does not cover flood water seeping through basement walls, or under a basement door or entering a window well.  Flood insurance would be required for this type of loss.  Flood insurance is a SEPARATE policy offered by Flanigan Insurance.  For more information and quote on earthquake or flood please call 314-727-6000.
