Explain SR-22

An SR-22 is ONE requirement imposed by the Dept of Motor Vehicle/Driver License Bureau in the event of a driver license suspension.  Essentially an SR-22 is a post card size form mailed or electronically sent by an insurance company directly to the Driver License Bureau.  The insurance company providing the SR-22 is REQUIRED to advise the Driver License Bureau in the event your auto policy cancels for ANY reason(SR-26).

Typically an SR-22 is required for 1 or 2 years.  Does an SR-22 by itself mean a person is legal to drive?  NO.  The SR-22 simply fulfills ONE requirement, they may be other requirements such as: reinstatement fee needing to be paid, completion of a class such as SATOP or payment of outstanding tickets/fines.
