If you do not own a home a property and rent you should have a Renter Insurance Policy unless you reside with a family member. The reason for your OWN Renter policy is a landlord is NOT going to pay for your personal stuff if it is damaged in fire or tornado. A Renter policy provides additional living expense if you are unable to reside in your rental unit due to a covered loss such as heavy smoke, fire or tornado damage to your unit. In addition the Renter Policy will protect you in the event you cause an accidental fire in your unit damaging the building up to a maximum of your policy liability limit.
